Job Purpose GMAW (gas metal arc welding) on sub-assemblies and final assemblies to directly support line production.
Typically assigned to the road safety positions that must be filled with Level 2 Welders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for inspection of road safety components within the cell in which he/she is working, ensuring that all welds are present and correct per the drawing Responsible for reworking (or having another welder within the cell rework) any weldments that do not meet the requirements.
Responsible for feedback to other welders on acceptable weld quality and reporting any issues with other welders to the Takt Lead.
NOT responsible for reprimanding other welders for poor workmanship or other issues.
Operate all types of tools necessary to the job, including but not limited to, wire feed welder, carbon-arc gouger, plasma cutter, oxygen and fuel cutting torches, hand drill, hammer, needle gun, chisel, utility knives, putty scraper, disk sander, rivet gun, impact wrench, huck gun, grinder, clamps, combination square, automated welders and tape measure.
Weld in all positions such as vertical (3), flat (1), horizontal lap (2) and overhead (4).
Set up various parts and assemblies for welding.
Set machines up for carbon and stainless steel of various gauges.
Place and move blocking, braces and jigs to hold parts.
Hammer wedges and drift pins, turn turnbuckles, and pull pry bars to align parts.
Grind or chip rough edges, surplus weld, or scale.
Position and turn clamps, and bolt together straps or parts.
Operate overhead cranes, hoists and other lifting devices.
Perform measurement and quality checks and record findings.
Operate robotic weld equipment.
Perform all assigned tasks in a safe, efficient and highly productive manner according to company policy.
Contribute to the team effort to produce a quality product.
Attend scheduled work hours on a regular and timely basis.
Maintain good attendance.
Ability to work mandatory overtime.
Other duties may be assigned by the company.

Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent, based on education and work experience.
Licenses/Certifications:
Preferred Welder Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Must be a welder at Stoughton Trailers for 6 months Inspection points less than 3 for the past 6 months.
Weld scores of 6 or greater for the past 6 months.
Ability to perform OPMs on welding equipment.
Must be able to accurately read and use gauges, tape measures, and read and understand blueprints including weld symbols.
Must be able to access in our system, read and understand Process sheets and prints.
Basic shop math (fractions, measurements).
Knowledge of welding practices Knowledge of the setting up and operations of weld machines, oxygen and acetylene torch, plasma machines and robotic welders.
Knowledge of weld defect identification and repair.
Successfully pass hands on Welder Level 2 tests.
If the applicant does not pass all required tests, there is a 30-day waiting period until retest.
Knowledge of welded trailer components.
